Who is the Ombudswoman?
The Ombudswoman is Carol Franklin Engler. She worked at Swiss Re for twenty years, spending 16 of those in aviation reinsurance, three years as the Group HR boss and one year on the Management Board of the Europe division. From 1999 to 2002 she was the managing director of WWF Switzerland.
Today, she is a partner in her company "Vorausdenken". She is President of the Board of Directors of Forests for Friends AG and The Tree Partner Company AG.Carol Franklin Engler is the President of the Lassalle-Institut association, Bad Schönbrunn, and a member of the Ethics Committee of INVERA Investment Ethics Research & Advisory AG.
What competences does the ombudswoman have?
The ombudsperson presides over the conciliation office. As regards her mediation activities, she is not under any instructions, has no vested interests, and carries out her task in an independent, impartial, transparent and efficient manner. In particular, she ensures that the people entrusted with the settlement of disputes have the necessary professional qualifications and abide by the applicable law. The conciliation office decides independently whether it is competent to handle a particular dispute and whether to commence mediation proceedings.
